Submission Guidelines

Altearth is in part an experiment in community story-telling. Anyone can contribute to the history of Altearth, but all submissions are subject to review by the Altearth Editor.

That editor is me, Skip Knox. In general, you should regard altearth.net as being like a magazine, and I am the managing editor with final say as to what gets published. If that doesn't suit you, that's fine; go submit your work somewhere else, or build your own website. There's plenty of room for everyone. The experiment here is in part to see if the editor-in-control approach even works in a web environment. If there are no takers, then everything here will be my own work.

When I review submissions, I'll be judging on the following bases:

  1. The addition must not disturb existing Altearth history
  2. It must deviate from Earth history as little as possible
  3. It must be well-written
  4. Text submissions must be as web pages ready to upload
  5. Text submissions must be well-coded. This site validates XHTML Strict.
  6. Graphic submissions must be as jpg or png and must be optimized in a sensible way.
  7. Graphic submissions must be visually clever and convincing.

If, after reading these vague guidelines, you still want to submit something—large or small—to the Altearth universe, I'll be very happy to receive it. Send to "editor" at the altearth address (I'm deliberately not using a proper email format, to discourage spammers). I'll acknowledge receipt as soon as I receive your message, though actually reading the submission may take longer.
